Foiling : Join the evolution of kitesurfing!
Hydrofoiling and wingfoiling are new sports evolved from kitesurfing. They give you an unforgettable smooth feeling and can be practiced with less wind and smaller kite (or wing) compared to normal kitesurfing. Mikri Vigla is perfect for progression foilers. In our center we use only FULL CARBON gear from Moses. We offer Kitesurfing foil rentals with supervision. It is time to get up on the foil and slice the waters!
Kitefoil available only for experienced kitesurfers
Naxoskitelife offers private hydrofoil supervised rentals including partial (bringing your own kite) or full equipment. Participating in hydrofoil courses requires prior excellent kite control and balance with the kiteboard. Kitefoiling is not for beginners but for a confident kitesurfers!
Previous experience with a directional board is a plus. We supervise using radios and hand signals. Your progression starts from the first foil drag up to your first tacks. This sport needs some practice time, but with a strong kitesurfing background it comes quite fast. We focus on your safety and pleasure. It’s best to do no more than 2 hours in a row, as fatigue slows down the progress later on. We can guide you in English, German and French. In the end of your rental you may get a registered KC Progression/Member Card. That shows your progression and gives you the chance to continue your course or rent equipment later on.

A : Starter (short mast)
1 Safeties and Hazards
Introduction to handling the foil safely and choosing the correct kite size.
2 Board handling
Handling the board in the water without kite, foildragging.
3 Water start with the foil
Find the correct leg and body position and waterstart.
4 Riding the board under control
Keep the board on the surface, not poping out.
5 Foiling with short mast
Ride in foiling postion with short mast (41 cm).
B : Intermediate (longer masts)
1 Foiling with medium mast
Ride in foiling postion with medium lenght mast (71cm).
2 Foiling with full lenght mast
Ride in foiling postion with full lenght mast.
C : Advanced (tacking)
1 Riding full upwind
Ride full upwind with the full lenght mast.
2 Jibe
Complete a jibe in both directions.
3 Tack
Complete a tack in both directions.
Some tips for having quality Hydrofoil supervision:
- Hydrofoiling needs less wind than normal kitesurfing. Flat water is a big advatage in your foil session, so try to take advantage of low wind days.
- Don’t go for a Hydrofoil session with wind more than 20 knots or less than 8 knots.
- Check the reviews of previous customers! Watch out for fake reviews (top, best etc).
- Is the wind side on-shore and the beach sandy without rocks? Hydrofoiling also needs deep and clean water (no seaweed etc).
- You should not plan to do more than 2 hours in a row. You need a fresh mind and body to get introduced in this sport.

- Prefer a carbon board instead of a cheap aluminum one. The difference is huge concerning feeling and experience which make carbon foiling even to look like a different sport. The best friend of hydrodynamics can only be the light and strong carbon fiber and not the heavy and bulky aluminum.
Hydrofoil: ONLY independent foilers
Our kite center offers a variety of carbon hydrofoil boards for renting accompanied optionally with the kite gear of Eleveight. You can rent complete equipment, or just the board. We rent for sessions of 1 or 2 hours. Being an excellent swimmer is a must in Mikri Vigla as the water is deep. We rent equipment only to Mikri Vigla beach.

Important information for foil rentals
Note that the 2 hours session should be done in a row. For example, if you start your 2h session at 13.00 you must finish by 15.00. When you rent from us, wearing a helmet and impact vest is mandatory.
The prerequisites for renting foil equipment is having at least the level C2 – tack on both sides and riding upwind (see more about levels) and passing a rental check performed by a professional of our team in the beginning of your first session. The rental check takes about 10 minutes and is counted in your rental time, but otherwise free. The customer must pay for the rental session beforehand, but if the check is failed the money will be retuned except for 20€ that we keep for the check. Those who need to improve to meet the requirements of the rental check can always get some foiling supervised rental from our center.
If the wind changes you can change your kite during the session. After the session the equipment must be packed with care and returned to the center where we check and wash it. Please note that in case of breaking or damaging the equipment you will have to pay for the repairs. No insurance concerning equipment is provided.
